SHUT UP AND DANCE
As artistic director, Yvinec approached the ONJ not simply as a traditional big band, but as a laboratory for creation: commissioning composers, bringing together musicians from different backgrounds and building programmes around a strong artistic idea.
One of the most distinctive results of this approach was Shut Up and Dance, released in 2010. The project explored the relationship between music and movement, with compositions by American drummer and composer John Hollenbeck written for the musicians of the ONJ.
The album included “Falling Men”, a composition by John Hollenbeck. In 2012, “Falling Men” was nominated for Best Instrumental Composition at the 54th Annual Grammy Awards. The official Grammy credits list John Hollenbeck as composer, with the recording credited to John Hollenbeck, Daniel Yvinec & Orchestre National de Jazz.
L’album comprend notamment « Falling Men », composition de John Hollenbeck.
