AN OPEN
ORCHESTRA.
UN ORCHESTRE
OUVERT.

From 2009 to 2013, Daniel Yvinec approached the Orchestre National de Jazz as an artistic director and producer: commissioning, assembling and shaping programmes without needing to occupy the centre of the stage.

Rather than simply leading an existing repertoire, he built projects around encounters — musicians, composers, singers, dancers, filmmakers and artists from beyond the traditional jazz world.

Producer rather than conductor. The ONJ became a laboratory for creation as much as a touring ensemble.
